I am Vegan
I have learned so much since I have started my 40 day Vegan Challenge,
I have learned a lot about the meat, dairy industries & also about my self. I am more aware of what I am putting in my body. The out right torture to the animals and damage to our environment that is caused by these evil industries.
Welcome to I am Vegan! began in 2011
My 40 day challenge - Has turned into 10 years!! as of 2020
I have also discovered that Starbucks is Vegan friendly, try a Skinny Peppermint Mocha with Soy :)
Day 30 !!! Now what took my body so long to know that's what it wanted!
Day 40 has arrived!!!!
I can't believe it!, 10 lbs down, several inches & 2 sizes smaller :)
This is not the end of my Vegan lifestyle, just the beginning !
I have never felt so happy about my self & my choices!
Thanks again Bee!
I'm now eating more, and healthier than ever before!. I initially decided to change my eating habits for 40 days.
There are so many choices! eating has become fun! & something I look forward to !
no dread! no regrets! no more guilty feelings or limitations!
My Daughter
I have 3 lovely children, whom I am all proud of, but I have to tell you about my daughter Brandi, she decided to become a vegetarian when she was in grade 6 after watching a PETA documentary on animal cruelty.
Titled Meet your Meat
http://www.meat.org/
My son Nick, has also joined the veg crusade 2013 ish
At first I thought it was a very unhealthy choice! and asked the same question every other uneducated person on this subject would ask-
BUT WHERE WILL YOU GET YOUR PROTEIN!!!
You need protein!!!!
STOP!
Did you know that dead carcass is NOT the only way to obtain protein?
yes that's how I refer to meat these days.
It's fairly easy to meet our protein needs, Soy products, Vegetables, Lentils, Nuts
Lets not forget our supplements!
Not Enough?
Did you know that only 1 calorie out of every 10 we take in needs to come from protein? If we look at what Vegans are eating we find between 10-12% of calories come from protein CLOSE to what non vegetarians protein in take is of- 14-18 %
REMEMBER!
more protein is NOT necessarily better, there do not appear to be any health advantages of consuming a high protein diet,
in fact diets that are high in protein may even increase the risk of osteoporosis & Kidney disease!
My daughter Brandi who will be 20 this summer has stuck with her journey of vegetarianism with full value of not harming these mistreated animals, her name since she was little...
Doctor Do Little, that has stuck also :)
Yes I do believe animals are mistreated, caged in confining spaces, some being burned alive! how can we as humans, with compassion and empathy allow or participate in such horrendous acts of violence?
The belief that was instilled in me as a child, that animals were put on this earth to provide us with food, I no longer carry that belief.
Why would animals...cows, Pigs even fish show pain? sadness? even anger towards their dooming fate if this was meant to be
I do believe if you have a farm and have animals that produce, milk and eggs, for your daily living is one thing, but to mass produce these animals causing them pain, while they bleed from machines being attached continuously for production, is inhumane.
I do not have a farm, there fore I pledge to be Vegan!
HEALTH
Did you know that animals are injected with hormones, and it can also be found in the food they eat?? that WE then eat!
According to the European Unions Scientific committee on veterinary measures relating to public health (SCVPH) when the naturally occurring hormones are given to cattle their hormone levels increase 7- 20 times. The SCVPH questioned whether hormone residues in meat can disrupt the hormone balance in humans & conducted NO acceptable daily intake could be established of any of these hormones, ALSO concluded that people who eat meat with added hormones are at a greater risk for certain cancers & some types of hormonial imbalances.
I have recently been concerned with a minor weight issue, after a car accident that chaged my life style.
After reading Skinny Bitch by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin, I was appalled by the meat industry,
It also changed my views on dairy!
Clogged arteries? poisonous sugars!
The reality is EAT CLEAN!
Fruits!! Vegetables! Nuts!
This is definitely what God wanted us to eat!
when was the last time you heard a blueberry squel in pain, or angry and depressed that you had taken its baby away, to be killed!!
I thank my daughter Brandi for getting my wheels turning, the seed had been planted for years, it has finally sprouted.
Thank you Brandi!,
I can now look forward to sharing the same food & places we will discover together.
This is a happy time in my life & I am so proud to have such a lovely passionate caring daughter who has changed lives, especially mine!
